Hello!

I am very new to pc stuff, but I am learning everyday! I saw some video where they said that "the cpu is nit overclockable". So my question is are all cpu's overclockable? I know that sometimes you are not gonna gain much, but I am asking if it is possible. And why are some motherboards good for overclocking and others bad?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks in advance!

Why are the other cpu's not overclockable? Is it some how locked by intell?

Personally I think its just so they can squeeze more money out of people, the K sku's are normally about £20-30 more than the non K versions. though the K cpu's do have higher stock clock speeds. Got to remember to K's dont come with a cooler though, so its an extra £30 for the cpu, then the cost of a cooler too.

For intel any CPU that has K letter on it are unlocked and overclockable like 7700k or 7600k.

As for amd new ryzen all of ryzen cpu are unlocked.

For Intel cpu u must buy a Z motherboard like Z270 for new amd ryzen any of their Mobo are able to overclock your ryzen cpu.

I am not familiar with the old amd cpu so but i heard FX cpus can be overclocked.

For Ryzen you need a B350 or X370 board to overclock, other chipsets don't allow it.
