So I'm thinking of buying and upgradinga PC so I can put it in my dad's place so I don't have to use his macbook when I go to his house.

I was planning a really cheap build with like a core 2 duo or something.

I'm probably only going to run LoL or SC2 on it, maybe a couple steam games, but clearly no AAA titles.

If i buy a base core2duo e8800 machine, what GPU would be best? I was planning to pick one of these up

and then add

Which GPU would be a good choice. I'm not running anything demanding as far as I can see.

so a TL;DR of the specs

its a macbook. its still a core 2 duo machine. and its a 170 dollar system you can't expect it to be anything special.

Don't get anything that runs on DDR-2 its just too old, try and get an old Phenom x4 965 (i think thats it) and a cheap board to run it on or maybe like first gen i5, GPU wise you could get away with a 7770 or similar

those will come know where near the price of 160 dollars... don't underestimate the performance. core2duo and ddr2 is more then enough to run LoL and first gen i5 CPU are quite garbage now anyway. the price/performance ratio is so bad.. it doesn't even perform that much better than a high end core2duo.

Lol no, I'm using a 750 and it would rape any old core2duo, you can buy them cheap now and same with there boards, but get whatever pos you want, you asked i question i answered it...

this says otherwise.

I believe this sums it up: Performs somewhat faster in all program types, power consumption isn't a big thing and everything is becoming multi threaded, DDR-2 is old and mobo are worst, but if you want a slow, old, platform that doesn't support any modern technology well then go for it lol.

Why is it $190, what did you take out of the $210?
