Irregular Ram?

I'm Planning up a Ryzen 5 upgrade from my intel 4th gen platform, and as i was thinking of ram i wanted to have at least 16 GB of it, yet at the same time not only are they cheaper, but a 2x8 kit rather than 4x4 leaves room to ad some more. This leads me to my question which is probably rather self explanatory and obvious, but is it possible to run different sized Sticks? For example have 2x8GB sticks and 2X4GB sticks at the same time giving you 24GB of system memory? All this hypothetically on your bog standard x370 board.
