Hi i recently put together a build.

I made sure the cpu was seated correctly in its socket and the arrows lined up

as i lowered the arm i heard some creaks and weird sounds.

Is there anyway i might of bent the pins even if the cpu was in the right orientation

Lowering the retention arm is always a stressful process for me haha! Always terrified I'm going to break it.

If you lined up the arrows then there shouldn't be any damage to your CPU. If you're really concerned, remove the CPU and either check the pins on the bottom of the CPU (if you have AMD) or check the pins in the socket (if you have Intel).

If this was the first time all of these parts have been put together it could be any number of things. When I built my first PC, I used all new parts and it wouldn't post because of a single dead RAM module.

Let me know what the professional says once they have a look at it. Best of luck to you!

Often the awful sound can come from a tight retention arm, let's hope that was the squeek and you just have some bad RAM, RAM is easy to replace as they almost always cover DOA.

ok i also heard like a crunching sound, is this normal

If it's seated correctly... No, no you shouldn't hear a crunch... Maybe there was something in your CPU slot?

it was seated correctly and there was nothing in my cpu slot, could this sound be coming from the retention arm or the plastic cover popping off
