Ath ad500x setup help

So essentially I play a lot of rainbow six siege and lately I've been a bit bothered by the fact that I'm struggling to hear stuff that my teammates are clearly hearing. For reference, my friend who has a pair of Hyper-x cloud 2's hooked up to an old cheap AM3 mobo can hear better than me running a pair of ad500x's plugged into an Asus Z-170 Pro Gaming motherboard. As far as I'm assuming, I have a significantly better on board sound and set of headphones. Can someone explain to me why I'm not getting the crazy soundstage that these headphones are supposed to have? I have the latest Realtek drivers for my mobo downloaded. Help?

Do you have at least on par or better hearing than your friend? Do you take care of your hearing?

 

A blind person wouldn't be able to tell you the correct colour shown on screen even if he had the best monitor in the world.

Had a look at the sound settings for the game, try diffrent "Dynamic Range" settings and see what's best.

Yeah, as far as I know I have no hearing damage. And it's not just him in general, others too.

Its either one of two

1. You actually have some audio setup issue. Something's setup wrong, or sound enhancement options are on (turn them off) and interfering with what the headphone should originally sound like. Can be faulty drivrr and what not.

 

2. You might unfortunately be a worse player than your friend is at "tactical sound play". You either do not have enough sound play experience (as many modern competitive games deemphasize sound play and emphasize visual play), or you inherently don't have the necessary skills for the sound play due to genetics and the environment you grew up with. Not everyone's olympic athlete.
