Audio Jack not working

Is my motherboard audio dead? I tested it but my audio isn't working. How can I fix or find out for sure?

Could be a very wide variety of problems ranging from just bad settings (in drivers or BIOS), or a dirty jack, to a legitimately broken audio subsystem.

Well, It just happened today so I don't' think that it was BIOS my computer recognizes that something is plugged in but still plays no audio. Does that help narrow it down?
