I'd stick with what you have, the upgrade isn#t worth it to the 7700K, and get a 1070 - or a 1080/ti depending on your specific needs.

I agree wtih @TheDankKoosh.

Keep in mind CPU progress hasn't really advanced the past few years, and gaming (which is what I'm presuming you're doing most of the time) doesn't take advantage of >4 threads (usually).

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

The upgrade isnt that much, maybe 5% at most so why bother wasting your money on a i7-7700K system.

If anything you wait another 5 years and buy Ryzen 2800X system.

Right now you should think about buying more ram, up it to 16GB and look at your storage needs. You can buy a 500GB SSD and a 1TB HDD and that will last you for 5 years or longer.

Just buy a 1070 for right now if you require it.

You can try, but 1070's are overpriced right now.\

This isn't a question of how much you can spend, but how little you can spend. After all, the longer you wait, the better technology is going to be.But if you wait forever, you're never gonna get that new technology.

I would only upgrade when you yourself feels like your current system isn't running what you need it to run. If you're running a smooth 1080p/60 and that's all you need, don't spend the money. But if you're seeing some serious dips in quality/other things that can justify you to upgrade, then upgrade. I don't know your situation (and neither does anyone else on the forums), so in the end, it's a question of whether the content you consume meets your expectations.

Sorry I probably made no sense in the last paragraph. I just started rambling.

Well, you could get a 1070 without selling your parts. I think most you could get for your parts would be around half what you paid for them, so say around $150 for the CPU and $80 for the motherboard.... etc. That would leave you with LESS money to get the 1070 after you've paid $300-ish for the CPU and $150+ for the mobo, plus cooler if you need it and RAM, with high prices of RAM right now too.

Seriously I would just get a 1060/1070 now if you need it, the CPU etc you have now IS NOT the bottleneck. What OC do you have on that right now? and what cooler?
