Hello there!

I'm finally getting the chance to upgrade my computer, and decided to replace the CPU, motherboard & RAM in this round. However, I am not sure on what to pick between AMD Ryzen 1800x and Intel i7 7800x.
Primary use is going to be games, video editing, livestreaming and what comes with.
Reason I'm in doubt is due to all the noise around new intel lineup.
Also the higher single-core perfomance of 7800x vs 1800x

Buying an 1800x means burning money. All Ryzen 7 chips are technicaly identical, they just cherry pick the higher rated ones. Doesn't mean that a 1700 or 1700X won't run at the same speed after OC. And that 7800X needs quite an expensive board.

That i5-4690k shouldn't bottlneck much if you're gaming in 1440p. You could wait for another gen of CPUs and just spend the money on a better videocard or monitor instead.

7800x is a more powerful chip for gaming but Ryzen has the best bang for your buck.

It is bottlenecking alot.
I bought a Evga 1070 FTW in september last year so wont need to replace that one soon.
I'm just wondering if the 7800x will be worth it over 1800x due to higher single core perfomance or if the 2 extra cores is worth it for sacrificing singlecore perf

No, ryzen is easily the better option, the cost is just too much for intel's high end anymore. The best option imo would be the 1700x because it pretty much guarantees 4ghz (unlike the 1700) and doesn't cost the massive amount that the 1800x does.

8086k Winner BABY!!
