create custom windows installation

Hi, i want to create a custom install.wim file for Windows 7 Pro SP1 X64 that contains all updates as of the day that i create it.  if i do that can i simply replace the install.wim file in a Windows 7 Installation media and have it install still or do i need to do other things in order for it to work?
