Computer Crash While Playing Game

So, I was in the middle of playing a game when out of nowhere my computer freezes and giant yellow squares appear all over my screen. It doesn't seem to be that much of an issue, but I'm curious as to what might have been the cause.

artifacting most likely caused by a bad cable or a bad gpu.

 

if you have overclocked your graphics card, turn the overclock down.

we'll surely avoid scurvy if we all eat an orange..

to OP; check your temps! that looks like artifacting. if you have been overclocking, dial back the OC a bit and see if it disappears.
but worst case, you fried your card.. it does look exactly as my friends did when he accidentally kicked a heater fan so it blew hot air into his case many years ago
