Sup folks,

I recently cleaned my pc of dust and when I tried to start my pc afterwards, I got no signal whatsoever, and no POST beep or error codes. Help? I've tried all troubleshooting tips in the pinned thread for this sub-forum.

System:

CPU: AMD A4-3400

GPU: ASUS GTX 560

4GB RAM

Not too sure on the mobo make and model.

Video:

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

TJ

Remove the GPU and try using the iGPU to POST. And if you have a different PSU, try that, as your current one looks pretty sketchy.

Sorry to hear your troubles, how did you go about dusting the PC?

Did you use a spray can? Did you remove any components to clean behind them?

If you used a spray can, I would spray around a bit more just to make sure you haven't caused any potentially moist dust to short a circuit. I had a shorted circuit yesterday due to a Hyper 212 Evo mounting nut wearing through the coating on the board, that stopped the machine from turning on entirely - it's fine now after removing the nut, no harm done.

Taking out the GPU isn't a bad bet as Zando Bob suggested. I would re-seat all the power connectors to make sure the pins are making good contact as well. Even though it shouldn't be the cause of the problem, it doesn't hurt to spend 30 secs ensuring it isn't the issue.

Lets us know how those steps go...

I say the PSU is fine but yes, do try use the integrated graphics

Will try that once I'm home. PSU  was included with the case (it's a Cooler Master though) and 6 years old, so might have given up the ghost. Will try using iGPU

Okay, really stupid and idiotic, but I've made an absolute beginner's mistake. I had taken out the CPU power connector and hadn't put it back... Really dumb, I know, but at least it's fixed.

xDxDxD Did the same thing on my build, and I was freaking out since it wouldn't post!

Ahh well, at least it's all fixed. It's amazing how much tension gets built when a PC won't post. I think there should be a PC building mat with a simple checklist to remind the builder what should be double checked before booting - a company should jump on that! - although it's probably already done...

Anyway, at least these threads reiterate the importance of double checking the basics before anything else.
