Dead pixels that are not dead pixels?

Hello, So I got a unique problem with my parent's laptop screen.
There is a black line that got bigger with time in the middle of the screen but it is not dead pixels. The line is too dark, Visible even when laptop& screen are off, way darker than pixels and if you really look close under high brightness you can slightly see text behind the black line.
 

Can anyone give me clue what this can be? Thanks

They're not dead (yet). They're dying.

Could be the result of the screen having been hit

But shouldn't dead pixels be just off when the laptop is off. This is visible when the laptop is off, and on the 1st picture, you shud see a little bit of text under the line. That shudn't be a case.

looking like a cracked Display to me. Can be very crazy... you have to replace it.

Those Pixels work. but the Diffusor is cracked. That is why this looks so funny

Saadly not but on most older Laptops you can replace the display yourself.

The LCD is "bleeding" that line will continue to grow, there is no way to fix that.
