I just built a new gaming pc with windows 10 home. I needed a product key and searched for cheaper keys and found multiple videos reccomending kinguin.net. I do not know what to think because people are saying their keys deactivated and the website seems kinda 'too good to be true.' I planned on getting buyers protection, but now I don't think that is enough to compensate for stolen credit card or paypal id's. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

cam

Update: I found an $89.99 version on outletpc.com! Now all I need to do is order.

The website itself (or G2A, or softwareswap, etc.) isn't going to steal from you; it's just that virtually all of the keys are technically stolen and may be deactivated at any time.

If you're a uni student, you can usually get Windows for free through Dreamspark/whatever they're calling it now. Legit Windows drops to $80 fairly often, and downloading Windows without activating is an option as well.

You say you built the system with Windows 10, though. Does that mean you already have a legitimate copy of the software?

the way kinguin sells keys and not proper licenses is piracy. There is a reason these sellers operate out of china and hong kong.

You dont need to pay for piracy but we cannot discuss this in this forum.

Microsoft does not give discounts unless you are a business customer, a student, or there is a product launch.

There is an old trick to getting windows enterprise via volume licensing, you can google this, it is well documented.

I installed windows from my own usb. I would prefer an activation key instead of running unactivated.

if you don't trust them (which is totally valid) then get an official key https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/d/windows-10-home/d76qx4bznwk4/1NT3. (think there are also some discount things going on with student or teacher stuff, dunno for sure though)

But why do you "need" a key? You can install and run it without the need to activate, some smaller featueres will be missed out on but other than that... google for it to know more.

Kinguin and G2A = risky and bad.

Reddit microsoftsoftwareswap is slightly less bad, but still grey area since those keys aren't supposed to be individually sold.

I would recommend reddit over G2A and kinguin if you really can't afford the full windows price.

TBH you can also use windows 10 for free too, just don't activate it. Eventually you can buy the $100 official key and activate it.

MS dictates the rules, you become a partner and comply with their rules or you do as the chinese do. There is nothing grey about it. Reddit is no better than any other scamy site.
