5. Why are you upgrading?

I need to upgrade my PC to play CS:GO at higher frame rate and to improve my work speed :). My budget is around 1-1,5k but I don't want to go over the board, since I pretty much only play CS:GO.

Those are the parts that I would like to keep from my old PC:

Samsung - 840 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

MSI GeForce ® GTX 960 4GB GAMING

ASUS Xonar DG PCI 5.1 Audio Card.

And those I want to buy now:

My main concerns:

Is this right motherboard for OC? Should I maybe go with cheaper motherboard and cheaper CPU?

Is the PSU good enough or do I need more power/different manufacturers PSU?

Be sure your mobo has all the features you want NOW and in the FUTURE.

M.3 storage and the like

looks good, also make sure your PSU is tier 1 maybe tier 2

Also buy a 500GB SSD and a 1TB HDD

Keep your receipts and boxes for 1 year

Perhaps you should look at Ryzen, it will be cheaper, plus you get more!

You can't overclock on a B-chipset (reliably). You'll need a Z270 or Z170 with BIOS update.

Or go with a 7700.

PSU is more than enough.

Go with 7600k. CSGO hates hyperthreads, they're just a waste for it.

Get H100iv2 and Z270 with the money you save and OC that sucka to 5Ghz.

Alternatively Ryzen. Get a B350 mobo and a 1600 or a 1600X if you don't want to OC. CSGO has marginal gains up to 6 cores so you might get a gain from it

idk

If I would buy 7600k instead of 7700k how big will be the difference in desktop applications performance (Excel VBA heavy duty code, JS data scraper, etc.)? Also, if I do OC will I need more than 550W PSU?

Depends, are they well multithreaded? Then go for Ryzen 5 or 7700k.

If they use one or 2 cores then go for 7600k by all means.

idk
