Some relatives gave me an old PC they had, so naturally I had a project for it. I'm building a Server!

Pentium D 940 (Dual core, 3.2GHz)

2 GB of ram (4x 512MB DDR2 800)

Nvidia GeForce 6200 (256MB)

I got it torn down, It's waiting for its new Hard drives, NIC, & raid controller now.

Formatting a couple flash drives now, one will be for the install ISO, the other will be the boot drive.

how much storage are you planning to put in? what nic are you buying (2x1Gbit?)?

 

Something like 1 TB, either with a 1 TB HDD or 3 500GB HDDs in raid 5, depending on price.

 

as for the Nic, I'm not sure if I'm going wired or wireless, wired would be nice for speed, but wireless would be nice, so I can just hide it in the closet, we'll see though.

There is no Intel VIIV Processors,VIIV is a set of Intel Products in a system,like Centrino.

PS.

This is not necromancing,Build Logs are exempt from this rule afaik.
