I do some editing and youtube. I also fold and use blender sometimes. My current system is very lacking for my tasks and I would like some advice for upgrades less than around $600 Canadian.

nice, but the mobo kinda sucks for overclocking, is the 1600 good enough?

What do you currently have as far as software goes. and what do you think you'll be using in a year or two? Personally, I'd suggest saving for a hexacore, AMD if you're restricted by budget, Intel if you benefit from AVX (more recent versions of Adobe products, Handbreak, H.264/265 use AVX if available). Actually, with AMD, you'd probably be able to get it now if you can afford that system you listed.

I heavily recommend saving for an Intel Hexacore, or the 7700K (7740X if you'd like to move to an X299 hexacore or higher later). Blender and Handbrake both use AVX when available.

Wouldn't know. I do know that Haswell supports AVX and AVX2, so simply moving from the 4460 to the 4790K would be a decent upgrade. You could use that as a stopgap, and save up for a more powerful system down the road.

According to a quick google search Intel started implementing AVX with Sandy Bridge on 1155 and Sandy Bridge-E on 2011, and have improved upon it with each generation.

Get a second hand 4790/4790k for around 250 ish and the best gpu you can get with the rest. 350 bucks can get you a 980 ti so I'd nab one of them.

i would just get the 980Ti then so I can max SW battlefront at 1440

I agree with Damascus, another thing that might help out is adding another kit of ram or replacing your 8gb kit with a 16gb kit.
