Trying to sell my laptop, and a bunch of people want to send money through Paypal.

My question is this.

If I receive money, ship there laptop, and spent the money, and closed the account... what would happen if they tried to get the money back?

You know, like typical scammers do.

I just don't want to get scammed.

Hey,

I would advise selling it properly, paypal have introduced a new feature which means that if you directly send money to someone when not paying for goods, if they want to claim back the money, they will have to contact the person. This is even more likely considering that as it is a laptop, it is likely to be more expensive, therefore improving the protection for you. I would advise that, if you can, put it on ebay or something similar to give you some form of seller protection as that will be better for you. If you aren't able to do that, you could use something like the sales program built in to paypal. Transfer the money into your account once done as that will probably be best, also check who you are selling it to, if you think you are getting a good deal which is too good to be true, it probably is, if they are offering more than you want for it, they are likely trying to scam you.

Hope this helps,

TT

Hmmm, I'm not sure what to do.

I'm using Letgo, and the buyer wants to send money to my paypal to pay for the laptop.

Does the site that you are using have a way to pay, if it does, I can't see a reason he would want to avoid it

Also if he isn't offering more it could be ok, make sure you save transaction logs and communications so that you have it as evidence if you have problems

The site is like craigslist, so no.

I think it's a scammer, so nevermind.
