Oh ok, I have no experience with 140mm fans so I didn't know if they were loud. But it makes sense more fans more noise.

Since they're larger they can move the same amount of air at a slower speed, therefore less noise.

I would get dual 140mm fans. Will move a little less air than three 120mm but will be quieter.

Got a buddy, (not on the forums yet, he's not big on joining communities online but I'm working on it) buying an air 540 on black friday, even if it doesn't go on sale, but wants to know if he should run three 120mm fans as intake or dual 140mm?

1. Cyber Monday?

2. What kind of fans will he be using, I would compare specs from a spec sheet on base my recommendation on that. I'm assuming we're talking bout air flow fans here? Will he be choosing from Noctuas lineup, or maybe Corsair?
