Motherboard detecting 1/2 processors

Hi There,

I recently got an old Intel palr s5000 motherboard.

My plan was to use it as the platform for my next gaming PC. ( I know servers are loud and so on.  And there are no affordable e atx cases , so I build one by myself. )

The system so far consists of :

Intel s5000 pal, 16 gb ram , 2x Intel Xeon L5420

The problem I have is the following .

When I am in the server's BIOS , it says that it has only detected one of two processors. How can that be the case ? I mean I installed 2 xeons on the motherboard .

do you have both EPS power connectors plugged in?

No I haven't . My power supply has only one 4 pin connector . I can't afford a better PSU yet.

Also try swapping the CPUs. One may be dead. Its rare, but it happens.

I have done that several times . Both CPUs are happily working :)

we'll, theres your problem. One of your CPUs is starved of power. That's why it is not working. You need to get a better PSU.

OK thank you for your help :)
