Need help in formatting USB drive

I got this cheap USB from the school and when i try it out its*broken*.....   it turns out that its format type is *raw* so i tried formatting............ more problems..... unable to format.....write protected.....no physical switch......regedit not working.....cmd not working..... any other suggestions/steps to take please?
