i believe that if you search hard enough through ebay or so you can find some quality vintage turntables :P

but you have to have a phono preamp, else it will sound weird and off pitch and annoyingly quiet

if you buy that turntable, make sure you have an amplifier to use as there is no built in amp, and that it will accept an RCA connection

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

what are your speakers currently? that turntable you're looking at has a preamp built in so no need to worry about the phono preamp part.

my speakers are the vanatoo t1

from this amazon listing (first thing that came up on google):

https://www.amazon.com/Vanatoo-Transparent-One-Powered-Speakers/dp/B0080K2KUK

it seems like it's a powered type of speakers - you don't need a seperate amp as it has one built in

However, it does not have RCA in.. If you're buying that turntable, you need an RCA to 3.5mm converter.

Fluance turntables tend to be fine. It seems like turntable you linked is based on a standard OEM chassis. Possibly the same OEM chassis as the TEAC TN-300.

It uses a standard Audio-Technica AT91 cartridge (and has what seems like an adjustable counterweight), so the tracking force shouldn't be an issue either.

The sound should also be good as well.

Personally, I've never been a hugh fan of the AT-LP120 due to them having QC issues ever since the production moved to China.

The pre-amp is also weirdly designed, since it will but a load on the signal no matter if its turned on or not.

But if you're just looking for a cheap turntable, then the Audio-Technica LP60 would also be a good option.

For a cheap turntable it sounds just fine and it will get you up and running in no time.

Looking used is also an option. A lot of good deals can be had, but you might need to give a used turntable a bit fix-up.

If you decide to go the used route you should more than likely also factor the cost of a phono pre-amp into your budget.

Get a u-turn orbit. Should be available in Canada and for a better price than the LP120.

Find a nice vintage turntable in good condition, is going to be better than a new entry level turntable.

I guess it would be too trouble to recommend anything specific, or explain why a vintage TT must necessarily be better than anything new. 9_9

You can get something like a technics 1200 for less than 400, and it's going to be better than new ones at that price point. There're a lot of good vintange turntables, but it may be better to ask in a forum with more expertise in turntables.

In the new ones good entry level could be a u-turn or a pro-ject.

Its hard to recommend a specific used turntable, as you just have to see what is available first. Also, used often presents a better value, if you are willing to put in a little bit of work. I got a Pioneer PL-12D II for $100, just needed a new belt, and it sound great, and is better than a $100 new turntable.

If it's that hard to recommend a used turntable, imagine how hard it is for a new buyer. They will have nowhere to start.

This is common sense and logic.
