So I recently started using headphones and a separate mic. I currently have a Zalman clip on one, but it's not really working. The mic works fine but it has to be sensetive to pick up my voice, unfortunately it picks up EVERYTHING. I need a replacement, it's just for gaming comms so it doesn't have to be fantastic quality, just clear with little background noise pick up. I was thinking about a Blue Snowball but it's a bit pricey. Any suggestions?

Software? My mic is just plugged into the onboard sound and the only settings available are the control panel ones.

Thanks for the quick reply BTW.

Any mic that isn't right by your mouth is going to pick up background noise. That's just a reality of sound physics.

Some software, however, has "Noise Suppression" which should diminish hissy-staticy type noise.

Ahh right. For some reason I though he meant something like Audacity  :P . Well I do have a TS server but I'm mainly using the in-game chat in Planetside 2 so there is no software. I think I've realised the main reason why people can't hear me for background noise. Since it's cold ATM I've been wearing a jacket and the hood sits between my mouth and mic. Just done some test recordings and I think it should be fine now. I feel a bit silly  -_- . Also, there is a noise suppression option in control panel so lets try that as well. Thanks guys.

No, as long as you listen to reasonable noise levels.

It shouldn't be an issue.
