So I have a terrible Comcast gateway, which is only gen 1, meaning it only has a 2.4ghz band. It works fine with my phone all the time, but whenever a wireless connection is made between one of the three PCs requiring a wireless connection it stutters extremely hard, making online gaming and video watching unbearable. I made a post on here earlier, and was recommended a wireless access point, this one to be specific. Would you recommend going with an access point over a router? If not, what other options would you recommend?

The Ubiquity is a good access point, and connected to your existing router via ethernet will probably provide much better speeds than buying a new router, as the AP only has one job (transmitting your network),whereas a router has 3 (modem, switch and AP). The transmitter in a dedicated access point will be of a much higher quality than one found in a router, and will have a better range.

If you dont have phone service with Comcast then I would suggest buying your own modem. It will save you roughly $120 a year. If you do that, then you would buy a router. If you require the gateway then an AP would be the best option.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Unfortunately my parents do have both the phone and TV too so I'm stuck with that terrible thing.
