I am having trouble in booting my pc. When I power it on all the fans (cpu, gpu, case fans) run but the monitor keyboard and mouse don't.

The only time it boots is when I swap my ram sticks with each other.

Please help.

How to reset it and how safe is it?

What brand/model is your motherboard? CMOS is a battery shaped like a quarter located on your motherboard, simply pop it out and reseat it. What this does is reset your BIOS memory back to default, helpful when overclocking and you don't POST.

My mobo Gigabyte GA-H81M-S1.

The desktop isn't booting without swapping ram sticks with each other.

When it boots up does it say 1 stick of ram or 2 sticks of ram are recognized. Because it could potentially be bad ram.

He's not POSTing, he probably can't see the BIOS.

You need to reseat the CMOS battery first before you do anything else. Once you POST (your monitor, mouse, and keyboard will be on) get to BIOS and look over your settings. I'd recommend running Memtest after that to rule out your RAM as an issue.

Forgot to mention, that from looking at your motherboard you may need to remove your video card to get to the CMOS. Good luck!

He's receiving no video signal, mouse and keyboard are not turning on.

Re-reading OP, sounds like he POSTs half the time?

I removed the battery and re inserted it after 5 mins. It still did not work. But now when I turn the power on the desktop just starts restarting all the lights and fans work then they shut down and then restart. My ram and psu are perfectly fine as they are new.
