I am currently using WDMycloud to store my footage and it is already full. So, I want to buy/build a new NAS.
However, with the new NAS, I would like to achieve with the following things:

1. Sharing files without login
2. Host a WordPress website

With WDMycloud, I can't simply just share the files' URL with other without them entering the FTP username and password. This is very annoying. I don't know if it can achieve with other brand, like Synology and QNAP, etc.
Also, I would like to host a small website for my portfolio. I know Synology NAS can host a WordPress website and it seems very easy to setup. As I am not familiar with Linux, so I don't know if it is very hard to setup on home-built NAS.

If you want files to be available over the internet without a login, then you would either want FTP with anonymous-user access enabled, or you would want to place them on an HTTP server. If you went with something that can host a Wordpress site, then you could just place your files in a folder accessible via the same HTTP server.

EDIT: If you went with FreeNAS (new version 11 recently released) then you can either use a Jail or a virtual machine for hosting the wordpress site, and you could easily set up exactly the type of FTP, HTTP, or other file shares that you want, with most of the management being done via a GUI.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

Are there any huge performance differences between FreeNAS and unRaid? I won't mind to pay more if unRaid is worth it.

Depending on the configuration, FreeNAS can be significantly faster than UnRAID. It depends on how much money you're willing to spend on hardware.

I have an amd athlon ii x4 640, asrock h110, 8GB ram from my old computer. I am thinking reusing these part to build the NAS. What do you think, FressNAS or UnRAID?
