Intel will strike back two years following this, they always do. Just look at their core 2 duo lineup in the mid 2000s. That was entirely because Intel wasn'r prepared for the Athlon 64 but then came out with something better later on rather than the failure of the pentium D.

Do we fall into buying AMD Now and then wait to switch is the real question ?

Intel probaly has a well thought out plan on how to gain back their customers. The problem intel is facing right now is the loss in margins, having to sell their expensive xeons for a "low" price. That is more than enough to explain intels rush to make money back somewhere else. Secondly, Intel heavily underestimated the power of mindshare. Therefor losing a lot of loyal Intel fanboys.

intel isn't out of the fight, but amd got up from a long count and really bopped them good and got them reeling. The good news competition drives innovation and tends to lower pricing. The bad news...is there bad news? The best news, whether you buy amd or intel right now you're getting a top notch cpu, which you haven't been able to really say for quite a few years, intel is a little better for raw gaming power, while ryzen has decent gaming power but really shines in more heavily multicore/multithreaded tasks. I'm hoping to see the balance of power drift back to 2005-2006 levels because we'll either see pricing come down, or intel will start trying to actually deliver serious performance improvements (clearly amd is already on that track)

Intel: Holy Shiza announce it all, slightly tweak our current cpu's and announce it

Except Intel already had a *unique* product that could be pivoted to beat Threadripper across the board.  All AMD can do is copy paste the same chip a few times on a package.

Workstation:  9800X3D|| Asus X670E ProArt Creator || MSI Gaming Trio 4090 Shunt || T.Force 7800CL34 || Corsair AX1600i@240V || whole-house loop.

Server Router (Untangle): 13600k @ P-Core only || ASRock Z690 ITX || All 10Gbe || 2x8GB 3200 || PicoPSU 150W 24pin + AX1200i on CPU|| whole-house loop

Server Compute/Storage: 10850K @ 5.1Ghz || Gigabyte Z490 Ultra || EVGA FTW3 3090 1000W || LSI 9280i-24 port || 4TB Samsung 860 Evo, 5x10TB Seagate Enterprise Raid 6, 4x8TB Seagate Archive Backup ||  whole-house loop.

Laptop: HP Elitebook 840 G8 (Intel 1185G7) + 4070 RTX Thunderbolt Dock, Razer Blade Stealth 13" 2017 (Intel 8550U)

I can understand, Vega though beats out nvidia which is where the hype comes to play though
