Hello there!

I'm looking into building myself a gaming PC that can run games at a solid 60 fps constantly. I play lots of MOBAs (HotS and LoL) and FPS (CS:GO and Overwatch), build I'd love to play more demanding games if I get the build that can support it. I have an estimated 400$ budget, but I already have a few parts that I can recycle from my old build.

I was thinking about reusing my Sapphire R9 270x with 2gb of DDR5, my Thermaltake 600W power supply and my Crucial SSD with 256gb of memory.

I had an AMD Phenom II X6 (I can get the exact model if you guys think it might be worth reusing), 4gb of Corsair Ram and an Asus motherboard, which I don't have the exact model name right now.

Anyway, what do you people recommend? With my limited PC knowledge, I know that 4gb of RAM is really outdated nowadays, but for the rest I'm kind of lost...

Thanks for your time!

What do you have that can be reused?

Well, the PC I have still works, but I feel like I'll definitely be reusing the R9 and the SSD. I could reuse the power supply, but I don't know if it will be able to keep up with more advanced parts

step 1:

go to ebay

step 2:

buy dell optiplex with 2nd gen i5

step 3:

Upgrade RAM, power supply, add SSD, and add a graphics card.

step 4:

Enjoy your new budget gaming PC.

I don't need to buy a full tower, unless buying an optiplex is a good bundle to build off of

You defiantly want to get a new GPU and CPU

What would you recommend in terms of CPU? As for the GPU, as I said, the R9 will run most of my games, its just that I'm bottle-necked by the rest of my build. I was thinking about a new motherboard, would you happen to know some that have a good value?

I just read what you have. This means we have something to work off of.

Get some case. The NZXT S340 is a good budget case off the top of my head.

But this used HDD: ($38)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sun-Oracle-2TB-6G-7-2K-3-5-SAS-Hard-Drive-542-0247-390-0476-with-Tray-/172502096225?hash=item2829ed1961:g:mzAAAOSw8d5ZPqV~

this 16GB kit of RAM is on sale: ($80)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012DSZKV0/?tag=pcpapi-20

You will have a good gaming PC under 200

The RAM is a definite yes, as for the HDD, I don't need the extra storage space for now, I have a HDD with about 500gb that barely has 100gb used. The case looks pretty dope! There is only one thing that I realized : I have an phenom ii x4, not x6. Any idea on what motherboard + Processer that would make sense?

The S340 is a good case, but you can go even cheaper. I used a Source 210 Elite for a while and it was a very solid, easy to build in case for a super good price (it was like $60NZD or something, which is less than $50USD)

Laptop: Asus GA502DU

RAM: 16GB DDR4 | CPU: Ryzen 3750H | GPU: GTX 1660ti

With the 2 fans, this case really does seem like a good choice! Thanks!

Keep PSU GPU and SSD, get a Ryzen 5 1400 with 8GB DDR4 and a B350 mobo (not A320).

I actually really liked mine, it was built like a rock and had everything you need (and really nothing you don't) and worked well in my first build, which was fairly budget. I only ditched it because I wanted something smaller.

Last thing I was wondering. Do you think that its worth sticking to AMD? I keep hearing positive comments about Intel's Pentium, while AMD is nowhere to be seen. Also, do you think that I should upgrade the motherboard? I have no idea what kind of difference it makes

Seems about right! I believe a build like this could keep me running games at an acceptable framerate for quite a while!

Thank you :D

I know, it is looong overdue

Sad story : I tried installing CsGo on it, it kept crashing. I then proceeded to installing it on my MacBook Pro (Mid-2012 with 4gb of ram), on which it ran smoothly. I doubt that what I have right now is worthy of being called a "gaming PC"
