This is my first build and I was wondering if I could get some advice on the parts that I chose. This is mainly intended as a gaming rig and I want to spend around $2500, but I'd possibly go up to $2700. I want to run one monitor at 1440p in either 16:9 or 21:9. I also want to keep a similar black theme accented by some RGB and silver/white throughout the build.

Replace the i5-7600K with a R5 1600 or i7-7700K. And don't get a SSHD... just get a regular HDD + SSD like a normal person. I feel like some of your peripheral choices are probably overpriced but someone with more knowledge than me can chime in.

Personally I would get 2 8GB sticks of RAM instead 4 4GB sticks so you could upgrade to 32GB in the future if you want to.

And keep in mind that most cases already come with fans preinstalled.

The cryorig is kinda loud. I'd go with a be quiet! or the hyper 212 evo.  Also op, the monitor you chose is kinda small.  You could find a better 25"-27" 1440p monitor for <$400.

🙂

???

The CRYORIG H7 is practically better than the Hyper 212 EVO in every way. It cools better, it's quieter, it's smaller and it looks much better. And here are some noise benchmarks from TPU...

As for the monitor, you'd be hard-pressed to find a 25"-27" 1440p monitor with G-Sync for $400...

212 EVO is absolute garbage.

OP - That is a tragic system. R5>i5, especially since you're using a 1440p monitor. Headset and speaker choices are horrific.

Significantly better. Better speakers, better headphones, I also included a nice amp/dac for you. If you need a microphone, you can get an AT2020 or something, or you could just save some money and get a HyperX Cloud headset. SLI support so you can add a 2nd GTX 1080Ti at any point, but one will be fine for 1440p 165Hz. Nice big SSD. Significantly nicer/better quality case.

Those speakers are absolute trash. I like the fact you got a 3440x1440 100Hz panel in there, but you've had to sacrifice G-Sync, and sacrifice fairly significantly on keyboard, speakers, and case to fit that in. Plus you've completely dropped heaphones/headset.

We know his budget and what he's looking for from his parts list. Of course it would be useful if he gave us some more info, but we're not exactly completely in the dark. Also, my point about the speakers stands, they're terrible lol.

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. I've made some changes according to what some of you have said.

Better monitor (G-Sync) and better gpu (1080 ti)

Changed the board for a B350 as a 550W won't run SLI anyway and the SSD for a SATA as the 960 EVO isn't needed for a gaming pc.

Peripherals are still the same.

You can add extra fans later on if you are sticking to around $2740 budget.
