Powerlan Question

Hello,

 

I didn't know in which section to put this, but here goes:

 

We're moving to a new house in a couple of months and i'm already trying to figure out how to best cover internet connection there. I prefer LAN for my desktops and can only solve it with Powerlans there.

The room we'll be using as an office only has one plug in the wall. We could potentially make this into two plugs, but i'm wondering if splitting one powerplug is the same as putting in an extension cord?  Since this is clearly weakening performance and not recommended by the OEMS.

 

Does splitting this plug count as dividing the power potential? Will it affect Mbps performance? Or do we really need to create a completely new powerplug with wires to have the recommended capacity for powerlans? I just want to have the best performance on my powerlan for our main rigs.

 

This might be a bit of a hard question, but thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi, It's not really a reply to my question. But seeing as how Kyle did it, he also uses split plugs and it was 10Mbps slower than a single socket. So that's a bullet i'm willing to take. Splitting a single socket should be just fine then.
