Okay so I want to upgrade from my old intel based PC to a Ryzen platform. I will sell my old cpu and motherboard, however I want to keep my RAM for the new build.

I have looked at quite a few different Ryzen motherboards and none of them seem to support my model of RAM in the QVL list.

I have a 16gb (2x8) kit of Geil ddr4 super luce C16 rated at 2400 Mhz, the model number: GLW416GB2400C16DC

Is this ram likely to work on Ryzen motherboards that don't contain it in the QVL list?

If so at what speeds? and should I try get a mobo that officially supports it? (looked for a while and still haven't found it on any mobo qvl lists)

Your never going to get your specific model, but there is a very small chance that it won't work.

It'll work, the question is if it'll work at 2400 MHz.

My guess is chances are it will, since 2400 isn't much of an OC over the stock 2133

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

okay so basically it will work, but it may require some tweaking to get it running at the proper frequency?

Yup, but you should buy the fastest ram you can afford
