M.2 Compatibility Help

Hello! I'm putting a new MOBO/CPU/RAM combo in a desktop, and I'm going with this combo at Newegg.

What I'm trying to figure out is, does the M.2 slot support PCIe drive speeds, or is it just another SATA III M.2? And if it does support PCIe speeds, what's a relatively inexpensive but not terrible M.2 PCIe drive I can look at for installing just my OS (Windows 10) on? 

Everything I know I learned from the internet. Also school. 

 

Current Desktop:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 @3.65 ghz, Cryorig H7

MoBo: Asus Prime X470-Pro

GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super OC

RAM: 2x8 gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @2666mhz

PSU: 650W EVGA SuperNova

Storage: 120gb SK Hynix SSD, 240gb SanDisk SSD Plus, 1 TB 2015 WD Blue

Case: Corsair Carbide 100R

Peripherals: Logitech G Pro keyboard, Razer DeathAdder Elite, Logitech G305, Logitech G600, 24" AOC FreeSync 1080p monitor x2

Using an m.2 ssd as a boot drive is a waste, it's not any faster than a sata ssd. Just get a sata ssd instead.

M2 is just the interface. It will support both SATA and PCIE mode

And if you are not getting a NVME drive they can be cheaper ;)
