Greetings!

This is my very first post on this forum. I need some advice on upgrading my pc.

The current system i have is:

CPU: i5 2500K

CPU cooler: Scyth Mugen 2

Motherboard: ASRock P67 Extreme4

Graphic card: GTX 970 (Strix version)

Memory: 8 gigs of DD3 (2x4)

SSD: Samsung 840 pro 256 GB

HDD: 2 x 1 TB Western digital hard disks

Screens: 2 x Dell Ultrasharp U2414H

I mainly game on it (in 1080p, might upgrade in the future to 1440p) and also develop software/games (Programs like Visual studio, 3dsMax, Photoshop) in my spare time.

The parts i would like the upgrade are the motherboard, ram (to 16 GB), cpu and cooling, because i have a feeling these are bottlenecking my gpu.

I have done some research on the internet about the new Ryzen CPU's but the whole thing confuses me. On most of the dutch hardware website i read that if you value gaming still go with an intel processor.

Ryzen is awesome for multitasking but not as good as intel for gaming. I do not know if these claims are true so that is why i have come to this forum for help.

What parts do you people think would be the best to upgrade to?

My budget is around 600 euro's (that is around 675 US Dollars, but most of the hardware here in Europe is more expensive than in the US).

Thx in advance for your help!

a ryzen 1600 or 1700 with 16gb ddr4 ram and an x370 mobo, get a AIO such as x62 or h100i or for air cooling darkrock pro 3 or dh-15.

ryzen can game, it competes with the X99 platform, you should be good.

Given the age of the system the cpu, motherboard, and memory have to be upgraded as a unit. If you can fit it into the budget an i7-7700K would be best for the described workload. But I suspect an R5 is going to fit more comfortably into the budget. It should do a pretty decent job, especially if you get a decent overclock.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

How about something along the line of this:

AMD Ryzen 1700

AsRock AB350 Pro 4 ATX AM4

Kingston  HyperX Savage 2x8 GB 3000Mhz (Ofc you could go lower on the Mhz)

Really depends on where you buy, if you live in germany mindfactory.de is worth a look.

For Cooling you should be fine with the stock cooler that comes with the CPU as long as you don't want to heavily oc that is.

This looks great! The price is really good compared to Belgium. If i make a similar list here it costs me more then 650 euros...

Do you have experience with mindfactory.de? Do they deliver all across Europe?

I had a look at their website and they do deliver to Belgium. As for experience, I never bought anything there because I live in switzerland but I have only heard positive things about them. If you want to buy wherever you buy your things normally you could drop down to a Ryzen 5 1600 and only 2400Mhz on the RAM that may solve the problem with the money. In the end it's your decision but I hope I was useful in someway
