Adding Heatsink to Router CPU

pspfreak

I have a linksys/cisco e1000 that was dropping wireless out. Well turns out the cpu overheats. Its kind stupid to run a 300mhz cpu with no heatsink whatsoever. Anyways I have a arctic vga cooler that came with heatsinks for vrm and ram on a gpu. How would I go about ataching these? Would arctic silver hold it down enough or do I have to go and buy thermal tape?

Oh and since I put the heatsink on top the cpu (with no thermal paste) I stopped dropping wireless so freqently. Just to give an example, my pings to the router would go from 1-3 ms all the way up to 1500+ and even not respond.
