First, I'm pretty dead set on Intel for the build, so let's just skip that part. I'm looking to build as close to the fastest build possible for a decent price. I'm looking to stream heavily with this build.

I am salvaging my working parts from my old build, mainly the 980ti, case, heatsink, and PSU. Everything else is new and pushing for performance and planning for the future. I wanted to get a MOBO with M.2 type M drive, as well as the 960 Samsung drive to boot windows from. Is this the fastest SSD setup available right now? Will these types of SSDs be viable for awhile? Can I get the same speed from both M.2 slots if I plan to buy another in the future? The speed of the SSD is a huge deal to me and I want to make sure this is the absolute maximum I can get right now.

I'm also questioning my RAM, it looks like this is an extremely popular choice but I feel like I could get something faster. I'm not sure what is the best mix of Hz and CAS Latency is, but this set seems decent. Another thing I want to be sure to take into account is 2x8Gigs vs 4x4Gigs of ram. I've heard some mixed results about which is necessarily faster. For now I've settled on a 2x8Gig setup, so I could possibly upgrade later. I know this is a minor thing and I probably won't be able to notice the difference, but I'm going for absolute maximum speed here so a definitive answer to which set would be better would be excellent.

Otherwise, just any general feedback or recommendations would be great. I want to make sure that I'm not creating any bottlenecks and that all these components will be working efficiently together. I know the 980ti would be the weakest link in the build right now, but it's a pretty new card so I don't want to replace it just yet. I've also heard the 7700k runs pretty hot, but I probably won't overclock it much if the temps are bad, and eventually I'd like to upgrade to a cheap watercooling setup like the Corsair H90.

get better cooling, delid your CPU, I don't know about that PSU, and why that motherboard?

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

As far as motherboards, I like the ASUS BIOS Flashback feature which has served me well in the past. This board seems to have all the features I need, and I like how it looks. I'm all for recommendations though if you think there are problems with it or something better I should be looking at.

Wouldn't the extra cores that come with an R7 cpu be better for streaming?

Certainly possible. My issue with AMD is that it seems that even with more cores, many games just don't seem to run as well on their platform. I have nothing against AMD and I'm all for competition, but as long as that seems to be true (for at least the games I am interested in playing) Intel is the only option for me right now. I can always switch my stream to NVEC and just leverage the GPU if it's an issue.

How is the performance difference when gaming AND streaming though? Might be worth looking into

That's what fast ram is for. Once you're above 1080p, there really isn't much cpu difference if you're running fast ram under either platform.

Ultimately it's your decision, I have both an R5 1600 build and a 6700k (rig I gave to GF) running in the same bedroom.
