Help me please... My only computer in my house (one that I built) is broken (I think), and I cannot get it to turn on. When I woke up this morning my computer was off and the case light on the power button was blinking. I looked in the case and none of the fans were moving so I thought that it was just off and tried to turn it back on by pushing the power button. However the computer did not turn on. So I turned the psu off and then back on and tried again. It was no longer blinking and I pushed the power button and the computer, turned on for about 2 seconds and then shut off again and the power button started blinking again. Please help,me figure out what this means. I really need to use this computer so that I can book a hotel for my upcoming vacation. Please help me...

Relax, we're gonna help you, no need to explain why we should. Besides you could use whatever device you used to post here to book your hotel.

Anyway, back on topic. Lets try to find out whats broken. Disconnect all unnecessary hardware, just leave the windows drive, 1 stick of ram, 1 graphics card, and remove anything connected via USB except mouse and keyboard. Basically you want to have the bare minimum for the computer to operate. Check the motherboard, look for anything that could be making contact with it, something that could make a short. Make sure the CPU fan is connected and secure, also check all connections and make sure they are connected securely. Then try to turn it on and pay close attention to all the fans, see if they all spin. Also keep a close eye where you last saw the smoke. At the same time, does the computer post? Does it shows an error?

Let me know what happens.
