Thanks for the reply. To be honest I was hoping for something more in-depth explanation on what the lines do because knowledge.

The hosts file contains the IP addresses of particular websites. You can see it as your own local DNS translating names to IPs. 127.0.0.1 is the local machine. Hence, anything that is pointed to 127.0.0.1 generates no outbound traffic at all.

Hello,I installed a totally legal version of premiere pro,and one of the steps was to add these

127.0.0.1 lmlicenses.wip4.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 lm.licenses.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 na1r.services.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 hlrcv.stage.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com

lines to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file, and i was wondering why.Is it a way to restrict internet access?

That's how your totally legal version of Premiere Pro makes sure it doesn't get caught being totally legal.

Totally legal versions of software usually don't get along well with license management servers that check for the total legality of programs.
