Hi everyone i recently bought a new FX-795A-TDFC and i had to RMA it well return in to vendor to get a new one

So what happened was believed 3/20 i received my card and when i installed it heard a grinding noise when i booted for about 1 second but then it stop the noise and didn't figure out where or what it came from.

So i did my normal test of card testing did a couple of games of BF3 and passes of 'Heaven Benchmark 4.0' heat wasn't too bad but didn't like to much was peaking around 70c

After that day it was 3/21 2nd day of testing and continued my test and opened gpu-z to see if everything was fine with my stream processors and all that good stuff and saw that it wasn't reading my fans rpm so opened MSi afterburner to make them go to 100% still didn't read the rmp so opened case to see if everything was fine.

When open case i noticed that the fan closes to the front of case wasn't on so i don't know why thought maybe doesn't turn on unless heat goes up to keep noise down so opened heavens and did 3 passes to heat it up got to 70 and never turned on.

After that i open case and unplugged card and re-plugged to make sure that everything was fine there. Once i booted i heard same noise that i heard when i first installed card and notice that fan that wasn't spinning was but was oscillating other fan was spinning but wasn't oscillating

So i called XFX and let them listen to the noise right away told me defective fan and since i just bought it can return to vendor to get a new one ( btw reason i got XFX was lifetime warranty and glad i did i called them twice one for help making sure i registered properly and other for fan help they are very kind and was only on hold for maybe a minute)

Sorry for long explanation but guess question would be if i did anything wrong with how i installed the card ( when installing i have a anti static strap and and was also grounding myself since was in garage to a plugged in air compressor, so was grounding myself to two things) Also tried to install in other PCI slots but made same noise

I know that with every product there are bound to be defective ones and not mad that i have to RMA just wondering if it was anything to do on my part

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Nothing you did from what you posted....you just lost the lottery. I was a staunch supporter of XFX and I still sport my 7770 BE in xfire with no issues. Their 7900 series seems to be suffering greatly from the reports on the various sites. Good luck with the new one...

Yea it could be that you are unlucky and got 2 defective cards. Hope your new card will be a good one. :)
