Any Good 2k monitors under 800 dollars?

KezzaMcFezza
Go to solution Solved by pelark,

Ya mean 1440p? 2k is actually 2048×1080, which is a standard used by the movie industry, not on your mainstream monitors :P

1080p is a 2K resolution BTW. 2K = roughly 2000 horizontal pixels.

I'm assuming you're talking about 16:9 1440p, which is 2.5K (2560 horizontal pixels).

Are there any requirements for the monitor other than 1440p (I assume)? For $800, pretty much all the 1440p monitors are available. Also, your location says UK, so what's your budget in £? $ and £ don't really translate directly as things are more expensive in the UK.

That's DCI 2K. The term "2K" itself is more general, meaning roughly 2000 horizontal pixels. Same with 4K, where there is also DCI 4K, which is an actual resolution.

At £500, you've got options like the 144Hz Asus MG279Q and Acer XF270HU. Unfortunately the GSync 144Hz panels are running £600+ so unless you have an AMD GPU for FreeSync, you're stuck without adaptive refresh rates unless you spend more.

If you're not concerned with gaming, or at least not high refresh rates, you could consider some ultrawides like the LG 34UM88-P (3440x1440)

Prices don't quite translate like that. Something like the PG279Q is $800 in the US but £700 in the UK, which is $900 or so when converted.

Aha, ya get crapped on like we do here in Norway, where a 580 is ATLEAST 100 USD more expensive than in the US. I feel you.
