AMD Vega

Therim

As many of you know, Vega is now promised to be released on June 27th. As I was waiting for Vega for my upcoming build, I have a question. IS AMD just releasing their flagship Vega or every one of them? Because if not, I might need to go with the green team

At the very least i expect the Vega 10 SKU's to launch . Don't know about vega 11 .

Tell you what : vega FE is launching this month .

Surely someone will get their hands on it for benchmarking .

All we're getting June 27th is the Frontier Edition, which is gonna cost a lot more and is for professionals. Rx Vega isn't coming until siggraph (end of June early August)

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

in your opinion, should I wait for them or just get a 1070?

Just get a 1070. I don't recommend anyone to wait for vega unless they have a freesync monitor. At best, you'd be getting 1070 performance for $50 less, and I could easily justify paying $50 for getting the thing two months earlier. That's not to mention, we don't even know if it would be any better perf/$. Vega isn't a new gen of GPUs, it's just AMD's Pascal competitor.

I gave up on waiting last week, will be interesting to see how things land, but for better or worse I have a 1080Ti now that after cashback I will have paid less then the rumored price the high end consumer level card (which is rumored at $600 USD) so even if it comes close to 1080Ti performance i'll still be good either way. Keep an eye out for sales on 1070's and you'll be better off.
