CPU Temperatures

Hi LTT Forums, 

 

So my CPU Cores are at 80 C^o when I play games, and when idle it's 60 C^o. Is this normal for CPU?? I don't think so. What can be the problem?

Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 bit

CPU: i7 3770k 3.50 GHz

Ram: Kingston 8gb 

Motherboard: AsusTek P8Z77-V LX2

GPU: MSI GTX 670

HDD: 2TB Seagate ST2000DL003-9VT166

SSD: 111GB INTENSO

80°C isn't dangerous for a CPU. Maybe replacing the thermal past would reduce your temperatures but you don't have to worry. 90°C and up would be a bit too high.

The funny thing is that I changed the thermal paste yesterday, and it didn't change anything

And your temperature got worse after changing the thermal paste?

No, stayed the same.

Are you using the stock cooler Intel provides?

Nope using a corsair water cooler. Can't really remember which one, but it's approximately 4 years old.

I think but all in one water coolers will get worse after some time but I'm not 100% sure and I don't know how long they usually last. But 80°C isn't dangerous. You can try another cooler if you have one lying around at home.
