tbh, I'd get an ATX X99 board, because you can actually take advantage of many of X99's features, such as 8 RAM slots, a crazy amount of SATA ports, and a load of PCIe slots

The motherboard was bundled in the deal, so I have to keep both of them. I emailed the guy and he said he's not selling them separately.

ah

tbh, the 5820k isn't the best value anymore, as the R5 1600 can be found for 200 dollars now, and motherboards around 150. Plus, you get an actual warranty with the new parts.

but with those the CPU and motherboard doesn't include a graphics card, so you would be spending more than 400

I would switch your case to an inwin 301, that phanteks case is apparently shite for air cooling

Also, a 1700 cost a mere $370 and an inwin 301 is the same size as the phanteks case you are looking at but it accepts mATX

PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vfzXWX

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor  ($299.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M-HDV Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($69.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $369.98

Honestly, I don't think $400 for a 5820k and ITX motherboard is a very great deal. You could easily get a Ryzen 7 1700 and a good full ATX motherboard for the same amount of money. This way you're getting an 8 core/16 thread CPU, it's brand new, warranty included, and a full ATX motherboard with all the features.

Desktop - CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x | COOLER: be quiet! Dark Rock 3 | MOBO: ASRock X370 Killer SLI/ac | RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz | GPU: MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio | STORAGE: 2x XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB, Crucial MX300 525gb, Seagate Barracuda Pro 4TB | CASE: Phanteks P400s TG White | PSU: Corsair HX750i

Laptop - Dell XPS 13 | Intel i7 7500u | Intel HD 620 Graphics | 8GB RAM | 256GB M.2 SSD

Peripherals - KEYBOARD: KBD67 Lite w/Gateron Milky Yellow Pros | MOUSE: Razer Deathadder V2 | AUDIO: Sennheiser HD 6XX, Truthear Hexa | MONITOR: Dual 1440p 27" MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD
