Hi good people.

I would be grateful if you could take a look at the build im planning on buying in a couple of weeks.

1. Budget:

My budget is more or less unlimited, but within reason. My goal is not to buy the most expensive rig possible, but rather the best rig for my purpose. And without paying for too many unnecessary "features". "Bang for buck" is also a factor.

2. Aim:
I am a gamer and want to be able to play the newest games in 1440p on hige/max settings for a while. I usually have a pc for 3-4 years before I upgrade and that should also be the case with this build. I fully understand that a AAA game released in 2020 will require a better build in order to run on max settings, but some parts can be upgraded if necessary.

3. Monitor:
I currently have 2x BenQ 27" 1080p 60Hz. With this new build i will upgrade one of them to the "Asus 27" LED G-Sync Rog Swift PG279Q".

4. Peripherals:
I will not be buying a new keyboard and mouse, as I am satisfied with the Razer lineup I'm currently using. Razer blackwidow ultimate classic and Razer DeathAdder Chroma.

5. Why are you upgrading?:
The main reason for upgrading is that currently I'm not able to run the games I play at hige settings or anywhere near it. In BF4, BF1 or The Witcher i have FPS drops far beneath 60 FPS at medium settings. I have an old AMD prosessor and "upgradeability" is currently very limited and not sufficient.

I experience screen tearing and now want to upgrade to G-sync.

My current pc is also very noisy, and I want to address that in this build.

-------

My question:
With the following parts, is there any pitfalls, problems or compatibility issues that you know of or have experienced / can foresee? Any advice or "heads up" is much appreciated.

Notes: I am going to change all stock fans with Noctua. 3x "Noctua NF-P12 PWM" for case fans (front). 2x "Noctua NF-F12 PWM" on the radiator. I know NZXT Kraken has problems with these fans, but I'm planning on having the fans connected directly to the motherboard anyways. 1x "Noctua NF-S12A PWM" for exhaust. The goal here is to have a positive pressure inside the case, so i will configure the fans accordingly.

I did not fint the RAM i was looking for on pcpartpicker:
HyperX Savage DDR4 2666MHz 32GB - 2x16GB (PC4-21300) DDR4 CL15, XMP
(here is a link to the Norwegian site that offers this: https://www.komplett.no/product/878456/datautstyr/pc-komponenter/minnebrikker/hyperx-savage-ddr4-2666mhz-32gb#)

I also have a couple of SSD's that I'm going to use for non essential programs, that I will be transferring from my old PC.

The parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/K26Dd6

Looking forward to hearing from you.

16GB ram is more than enough for gaming. Go for a ryzen 1600/1700 instead of the intel CPU, and get a 3000mhz ram. Ryzen benefits from faster ram.

Also maybe a 1TB HDD would be nice to have. You could go for a 250GB SSD for windows and get a 1 TB HDD for your games.

Thank you for your reply.
After using AMD for 4 years now, I would like to go back to Intel. I understand that Ryzen is good, but personally i would like to give them some time to ripe, before i trow myself on the band wagon.

Hey, if you want to go for an Intel build, maybe consider waiting a few months, since intel is releasing a completely new line-up of processors later this year. Since you intend to keep you machine a few years (regardless of upgrades along the way), maybe waiting for their new Cpu's would be better. They will offer higher core count at somewhat more reasonable prices and higher clock speeds that their current lineup.
If you can't wait, of course you can build a PC right now, you can go either Intel or Ryzen. Up to you. :)

Thank you for your reply m8.

Ye a saw that about the 30% increase in performance on "Coffee Lake". However, I would like to buy a new pc before "Destiny 2" comes out, and it's not too far away. And if I adopt the mindset of waiting for something better, Ill be waiting forever hehe. That's just me tho.

understandable. I have the same with AMD's gpu's. i always go for nvidia.

16 gb should still be enough, if you have the money for it, yea go for 32. but for gaming only, it wont add much. And the HDD/SDD tip still counts as well. Atleast if you ask me. only 500gb of storage is not all that much. Considering some games already take up like 80-90gb(damn you GTA/shadow of mordor).

Agreed :) I will reconsider the SSD/HDD situation.
