Full Disk Encryption - VeraCrypt

Go to solution Solved by BestPCBuilder2017,

I figured it out. Apparently VeraCrypt only supports full disk encryption for MBR and does not support GPT/GUID. Apparently according to a post I saw, they're hoping to get support for GPT/GUID going, but as of now, it's not functional.

So I'm trying to get full disk encryption working for VeraCrypt and it won't let me select the "whole drive" option, it's grayed/blurred out. Just wondering if anyone knows what to do for this. I have 7MB at the very beginning of the drive completely available (made available using Windows Disk Management) so I don't know why it won't let me proceed since I have the dedicated free space available for the bootloader.

what os?

Normally veracrypt isn't the best for full disk

Use dmcrpt/luks, bitlocker, or file valut dependig on os.

I was having trouble with using a multi-boot config so I bumped it down for testing to just Windows

I take it the first suggestion was for Linux? I won't ever use BitLocker lol. What is File Vault?

bitlocker is much better for windows. filevault is for osx.

The error message no longer showed when there wasn't space there so I assume it's fine. I don't understand how/why it wouldn't be.
