I am thinking about a corsair grey label psu but they have a bad reputation so what is the BEST IN QUALLITY in the 500w area?

Depends how much you're willing to invest really. Nothing wrong with the Corsair CX450/550M units though. they're actually quite good considering their prices. There is also nothing wrong with overbuying your wattage. Most good units start in the 550-600W area and are usually more efficient around the 35%-70% useage area... so looking specifically for a 500W unit may not be exactly in your best interest even if 500W is all you need.

But yeah take a look at that list linked by @PineyCreek and pick something from the T1 area if you're looking for best of the best features.

when asking about a product its a good idea to provide an exact link to the unit in question so we know exactly what you're talking about. giving us the name isn't always as obvious as you think it might be as there are a lot of CX variants out there over the years.

Do you mean this unit here?: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FQ648d/corsair-power-supply-cp9020101na

If so, yes its a fine unit. Depends what kind of system you're trying to pair it with, but its unlikely to let you down.
