I recently built a system for a friend with an RX 580 8GB and an R5 1600.

He's playing League of Legends at 1080p, and only getting 76FPS. Same thing happens in Overwatch --70ish FPS. Obviously, this is way underperforming. Strange thing is, when I jump into something like unigine superposition, or more demanding games, it preforms exactly as I would expect (20-25FPS 1080p Extreme preset, 60+FPS 1080p medium preset on superposision)

Is there something I'm missing here? some sort of FPS cap built-in?

One sec.. Lemme ask him to test and get back to you.

I'm trying to help him solve his problem over messaging, so I can't test it right now.

No, either you are thermal throttling, or have one heck of a CPU bottleneck

...But Ryzen 5 1600 is good. doesn't even come close to full utilization (yes I checked every core, none are pegged at 100% while gaming)

And also it's a sapphire pulse RX 580, not some crappy power color one. temps aren't great, and with some mild overvolting and OC'ing it does reach the mid-high 80s, but nothing that would bring an RX 580 to 70FPS in LOL

Well he asked me for help, and I decided that I would just post it.

He's not really that techy, so he might not understand everything.

Ex. if someone posts the generic: "DDU and reinstall" (which I might try), I know exactly what that means, whereas he would need to spend 15 mins figuring out what DDU is and how to reinstall drivers.

That would be my first instinct, except for that it preforms fine in high-intensity titles.

Yeah, except for that I'm not at his house right now, so I'd need to guide him through it over text or phone, which is just a minor pain in the ass.

might to that if nothing obvious comes up.

Yeah, but again, it's kinda a pain in the ass.

I will probably DDU and reinstall though, seeing as there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut "turn this setting off" answer that exists.

Maybe "framerate target control" is on in Radeon Settings.

Tried, didn't fix anything.

Thanks anyway though.
