Help With Fans?...

Go to solution Solved by Marinatall_Ironside,

Your best bet is to get a SilverStone CPF04 8-way PWM fan hub. You would hook up the first channel to a 4-pin PWM header on the motherboard and then you can control up to 8 PWM fans at the same time, with power provided by a SATA connection. You cannot use 3-pin fan with this hub. If you are going to use 3-pin fans, then a ModMyToys 4-pin Molex to 3-pin fan power distribution in an 8-way block will do the trick.

Hello everyone,

I have been learning all the ins and outs of everything PC for the last 2 weeks or so, and i need some help here.

For whatever reason, i can't wrap my head around fans.

I know that there are 3 and 4 pin connectors, and that some fans are either connected to the PSU or to the MOBO.

That's the result of roughly 4 hours of googling, looking up tutorials, scouring through forums, etc.

So i ask of you, please, help me out a bit here?...

(Parts):

Case: "Fractal Design Define Mini C" (Manual)

Motherboard: Probably the "ASRock AB530M-Pro4" (Manual)

CPU: "Ryzen 5 1600" (stock cooler)

GPU: "Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 6GB WindForce OC"

PSU: "SeaSonic M12II EVO 520 Watt Modular"

Questions:

If i were to get another 120 mm front fan, how would i hook all this up?

Would i hook up the back fan to the 4 pin connector, and one of the front fans to the motherboard?

What would i do with the third fan, or could i get some kind of splitter that would allow me to plug 2 fans into one connector?

What is the exact difference between a 3 and 4 pin connector?

Would i need some kind of external controller to control the fan speed of my fans, or would the system handle the speed itself?

Any further information on setting up fans, and possible examples or suggestions are always welcome!

Thank you for your time. :)

Thank you for that one! :D

Sadly, after a bit of searching, i fear that this model splitter is not for sale in my country, the Netherlands, or at least not easily obtainable.

I'll look around for a bit and see if i can find something on it, or a similar alternative. :3

Also, regarding the speed control of the fans, i am assuming that it would be handled automatically, as there is no control interface or anything?...

For the 4-pin PWM hub, you control all the fans through the motherboard's BIOS.

For where you live, go to HighFlow. They're a PC modding specialist country in The Netherlands ;)
