I'm planning a build for a friend and the card that I have picked out is the EVGA ACX3.0 superclocked 1070 because there is a killer deal at my local microcenter that makes it the cheapest card. My only worry is that his monitor whic is a Lenovo LL2264d. The monitorr is 1080p and 75hz with no gsync or freesync. Will my friend end up experiencing bad screen tearing if all settings were cranked up? And should I give up future proofing to go with a card like the 1060 or 580? Or and this is my last question try to convince him to invest in a new monitor?

Your friend already has the monitor, is that correct? If so, do they ever see tearing now? Maybe in older games, low settings, or whatever it takes to get over 75 FPS on their current hardware.

I'm aware vsync is supposed to introduce input lag, and that is technically probably true, but I've never personally experienced noticeable input lag in any game I've ever played with vsync on my hardware. Your mileage may vary, but I'd recommend you or your friend to try it and decide for yourselves before you write it off.
