No...  A capture card takes a video signal (say like the HDMI output of a DSLR) and allows your PC to save said video feed. You might be confusing capture card with capture software (like OBS)

No, i'm not confusing the two. It's just that when people have talked about capture cards in the past they wanted to record their games. I never considered any other use scenario.

so are capture cards what make a camera able to be used as a webcam so when I go into OBS, it's going to appear as a webcam.
