Let's be honest Android security is no where near IOS's. Android also has the whole update thing that takes months to get sometimes. Android also had malware in apps on the google play store. Android is much more versatile though and you aren't buying into the apple ecosystem. Honestly I would choose IOS any day until android can fix their security and update delivery. In google's recent event they said they were working on theses so hopefully I will switch some time. Just not right now.

Just keeping this here as a Android:

Pros:

Very open source, gives user access and ability to get to it's nitty gritty and do customization down to a very low level. If you don't like something, you can probably change it.

Cons: Implementation on certain things is handled very poorly. For example, security updates are handled by the phone service companies as opposed to Google, which causes sometimes months before a phone gets a vital update. 

Meh: Becoming more battery efficient and user friendly. Not quite to what people have seen with Apple yet, but getting there.

 

iOS:

Pros: User Friendly, very intuitive. OS is very efficient, well optimized. Very secure, since Apple themselves handle the updates as opposed to the service providers. More Apps can usually be found on the Apple store, as people are usually more willing to pay for things from it.

Cons: Extremely closed. If you invest into the system, your going to have a heck of a time trying to get out. Your more than likely locked into the system.

Meh: While Jailbreaking is a thing, and I do believe they've worked on increasing user customization to the nitty gritty, Android's open source nature overshadow's what iOS has in that direction. Not all that great for people who like to get,"Hands on" and "personal".

  • integration with macOS 
  • timely updates
  • better/cleaner app store
  • nicer UI imho (subjective)
  • syncing through iTunes (both a positive/negative depending on perspective)
  • more secure
  • customizable with jailbreaking (but not as much as Android)

Android:

  • Customizable 
  • usable as a flash drive
  • direct access to files

Basicly, If you want to customize your phone at all, use andriod. If you want simplicity with no storage upgrades, use IOS.
