Hello,

I have been having trouble with my PC recently and I have no clue what part of my PC is causing it.

So my computer has been crashing and then not turning on properly. It turns on and the motherboard, cpu fan, gpu and psu fan turn on yet none of the case fans do and nothing is posted. The speaker in my motherboard does not seem to work so I cannot listen out for post beeps. Once the PC has started the issue it takes hours to fix itself, usually all night.

I have done many tests but do not have spare parts to swap out original parts.

I have:

• Tested PSU with multimeter when PC was working fine and after it stopped working (all pins showed correct voltage)

• Unplugged everything apart from motherboard and PSU  (still didn't work)

• ran computer on motherboard box (still no luck)

• moved computer to a new case with no success

Things I know it isnt:

• HDD & SSD - would boot to bios even if that was the problem

• GPU (still does not boot even with GPU unplugged)

Possibilities:

• PSU is faulty (even though it supplies correct voltage - could be what crashes computer in first place since it fixes itself over time)

• Motherboard is faulty (would have to replace motherboard luckily warranty is still active

• Motherboard standoffs are shorting motherboard and causing it to fail (do not have all 9 standoffs installed as some are missing. Contacted phanteks to see if I can get some more. I have 5 - corners and centre)

It could be something else but these are the most logical possibilities I can come up with so far.

I am confused to what is the problem as no one else seems to have had this issue.

Quick question: When a motherboard is shorted out does it take a while to fix itself? e.g the next morning after being off all night

Thanks for anyone who can help. My PC Specs are down below if needed

i5-4460 @ 3.20GHZ

MSI Z97 Gaming 3

Honestly if you can't figure it out, send it to someone who you have a warrenty with. I had bought a sentry PSU and it went bad, killed my AMD APU and I sent to whole computer to the PSU company and they replaced the APU and gave me a new fully modular PSU.

First thing I would try is another ram! Rams are always my first choice.

I thought this same thing because when I posted with diffrent RAM it was have architecting issues but it was really just the CPU that was jacked.

Yeah I'm trying to figure out what the problem is first before sending something back. Going to try going to a friends house and swapping out parts to find out the problem. Will keep those ideas in mind.

I have tried different power outlets, swapped ram around, don't have any spare ram though to test.
